6 Style Ideas For 2018 Brides From Sagarika Ghatge’s Wedding Looks

Category - General, 2 Mins Read Time

The Zaheer Khan and Sagarika Ghatge wedding took social media by storm (without the crutch of a hashtag!) this past week. One of India’s favourite cricketers finally tied the knot to his actress girlfriend best known for her role in the iconic Chak De India. While there have been SOOOO many celebrity weddings, it’s not always that I feel inspired enough to write about the bride’s look. With Sagarika, I was mighty mighty impressed with what she pulled off so effortlessly.

Here are 6 style lessons I learned from her, which are great to incorporate in your wedding season look or even your upcoming bridal one!

1. Silver Linings Playbook

Sagarika wore a simple and elegant red Sabyasachi saree for her official wedding but paired it with beautiful silver jhumkis and a choker necklace. In a world replete with diamonds and uncut jewellery, this look was so striking! Time to dig into mum’s closet for some vintage pieces or maybe step into a Tribe Amrapali store? (their silver jewellery is the best! – and the Bride Tribe card gets you 10 %  – shameless plug lol)

2. Sea Foam Love

Ever since Anita Dongre launched her last collection, I’ve been besotted by the lehengas in hues of seafoam aqua green and hues of blue. I was SO happy to see Sagarika bring it to life on her mehendi. This is definitely a colour to reckon with for bridal ensembles in 2018.

3. Pigeon Grey Cocktail Vibes

We’ve been reeling from that same old gold glitter for some time now and I loved the fact that Sagarika went for a silver / gray toned lehenga by our favourite, Falguni & Shane Peacock for her cocktail event. With contrasting ruby jewellery, she looked super chic, but as if she never even had to try. Love.

4. The Handheld Dupatta Drape

Forget the gujarati style wrap or the saree style lehenga drape, Sagarika wore her lehenga dupatta drape as we often simply do with a salwar kurta for most of her functions (except one) One could assume its not the easiest drape to manage, but with the right pins and tucks, she’s made this drape look chick on all her wedding functions.

5. Vintage Minimalism

Less is more but tradition is cool. Sagarika’s looks were a stark reminder that the 2017/2018 bride is all about traditional elegance – celebrating heritage but without the fuss. Her traditional simple gota patti outfit and vintage traditional jewellery was so on point.

6. Bridal Gold

Gold was such  a popular bridal colour in the 80s and 90s and seeing Sagarika for full on Sabyasachi in a gold benarasi lehenga with traditional jewellery and hair, it only reminded me of the charming actresses of Bollywood’s golden age. Could that be the vibe for 2018 brides? Who knows?

Would love to know what you all thought of her looks! Comment below!

Much love,
