Hi Anissa! Congratulations! We’re loving the pictures, please tell us, what was the theme for the event?

“The theme of the event was a Parsi blessing. My mother is Parsi and I visit the Fire Temple very regularly so it was important that during my wedding time, we incorporate the Parsi side in the festivities. This event was blessings for the couple for prosperity, happiness, and good health. It was a very intimate function with Armaan’s family and very few of our close friends.”

We can’t wait to know what the proposal was like!

“Every time someone asks me about Armaan’s proposal, I fall short of words because I genuinely could not have imagined something more perfect and more us. His dad’s office terrace has been in his family for the past 70 to 80 years which overlooks the sea and the Asiatic library. It’s a place that meant a lot to me. The decor was done by my best friend’s company Aash Studio along with Armaan. It was really incredible!”

Was there some sort of a special element in the proposal that you’d like to share with us?

“Armaan recreated the first time we met, it was when his brother Aadar introduced us at a restaurant in New York and the rest is history. He walked into a podium that had the restaurant’s name and we walked down an aisle together which had the lyrics of Frank Sinatra’s New York New York. It was perfect. I think of this moment and I almost have tears in my eyes. His brother Aadar, is the most important part of our relationship.”

How do you plan on incorporating your family’s tradition into your wedding?

“It’s going to be a Sindhi, Punjabi, Parsi and Jain wedding! It’s truly an amalgamation of cultures and it’s lovely that everything is coming together and getting incorporated into our festivities. The pheras will be our traditional Hindu pheras, this is why we did the Parsi blessing beforehand. Our parents have been encouraging us to represent our cultures at the wedding because it brings so much to the table.”

What was the decor like?

“The decor was strongly influenced by Parsi culture where the bride and groom wear lighter colors. The bride is usually dressed in a light pink or blush which could be a Gara Saree or a Lace Saree. These elements played an important role in the decor. We had the talented Nazneen Gamadia of Creative Concepts who helped us with the decor since she understood it so beautifully. There were lots of flowers, lace, lots of silk in blush tones.”

What did you wear? How did you decide your outfit for the blessing?

“As I mentioned earlier, Parsi women prefer to go with lighter colors for their wedding ceremonies. Usually, they wear lace or Gara Sarees but I opted to go for a lehenga and I could not be happier with my choice. My hair was done by Sarita Gaurav and makeup was by Priya Todarwal. Since it was at home, I didn’t want anything too heavy and it was a very small function so I wanted to keep it on the lighter side. I wore Ritika Mirchandani, it was a really beautiful, light & elaborate lehenga.”

Are you planning on a destination wedding?

“We’ve decided not to do a destination wedding since Armaan and I are very connected and attached to Bombay and we’re very happy to do it here!”

What are the wedding preps looking like? We’re sure it’s hectic!

“No matter how much time you have, it’s going to be hectic no matter how much you prepare for it! It doesn’t feel like a task but a lot of fun. Our families have gotten way closer and there’s a great understanding between everyone! Armaan and I have been involved where we can give inputs but our parents have been the sole rockstars throughout the process. We are blessed to have them and we’re looking forward to all the fun and all the hard work that we’ve all put in.”

Have you brainstormed and decided on a hashtag yet?

“So the hashtag we’ve decided on is called #AnissMaanGayi. Few of our friends helped us with it!”

Did you happen to refer to The Wedding Brigade as a platform during all the madness?

“I always refer to the blog or your Instagram whenever I have any doubts about what’s good, what’s trendy. It is extremely inspirational. Sanna (Founder + CEO) and Maansi (CBO) are my soundboards because they’re always so happy to help. I definitely use the input of the wedding brigade through them.”

Thank you Anissa! We’re eagerly waiting for the big day and can’t wait for the pictures & videos to come out!
