If you use any kind of social media, you surely must have come across the dreamy wedding pictures of the ‘Queen bee of luxury fashion’, Sonam Babani. With the gleaming snow-blanketed Alps in the background, the exotic flower decor, and gorgeous white wedding outfits, Sonam’s wedding has set the bar of celebrations too high. And we couldn’t wait to find out what lies beyond those pretty pictures. So, here we have brought you some interesting details from the grand wedding.
It has been more than two years since we had an exclusive chat with Sonam Babani about her plush proposal in the Maldives and we clearly remember how she couldn’t contain her joy at having that elegant diamond ring wrapped on her finger. She had shared, “There was a very strong sense of magnetism between the two of us that I don’t think I’ve ever had with anyone else. Neil always kept giving me hints but there was something inexplicable that ruled out everyone else, and I was fixated on Neil. I’ve never felt that kind of magnetism to want someone so much ever before!” When we asked her how she pictures her married life to be like, she said, “Our friends always say we’re like the male and female versions of each other. I’m getting married to someone I’ve known all my life, and I’m incredibly in love, so it’s gonna be a fun ride for me.”
Then, Sonam’s plan was to get married sometime in 2020 itself. But COVID dampened her plans as it did for many others. But now that she is finally married to the love of her life, we couldn’t be happier for her. So, let’s take a peek inside her intimate wedding.
The first function was the Mehendi ceremony which looked straight out of a fairytale with a tiny orchard-like creation at the venue. Yellows and greens dominated the decor with lovely bunches of sunflowers and lemons spread around. If we talk about the mehendi design, it was just as chic and exclusive as everything else about Babani. The super stylish bride looked absolutely stunning in a maroon Sabyasachi outfit, accessorized with jewelry by Sunita Shekhawat and shoes from Christian Louboutin.
The wedding, as we all know by now, took place in the enchanting hills of Zermatt, Switzerland. Chalet Zermatt Peak was chosen to be the sacred space for the wedding celebrations planned by Tehiya Narvel Events, Switzerland’s comprehensive wedding planner. Italian wedding photographer David Bastiononi, who also photographed fashion designer Chiara Ferragni’s wedding, captured the special moments along with wedding videographer Alexander Ma.
The bridal outfit came from the much sought-after celebrity designers Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. Embroidered with crystals and resham work in light pastels, the lehenga was complemented by a long white veil to complete a utopian bridal outfit, matching the grace of the lofty white mountains that surrounded it. The groom’s sherwani was in a pleasing blue and was an ode to his love for the underwater. To go with her outfit, Babani opted for solitaire jewelry by L. Sunderdas Zaveri — oval and round-shaped necklaces, a pear-shaped maang tikka, solitaire studs, and bangles – and her engagement ring. For her bridal glow-up, Babani got the popular British beauty brand, Charlotte Tilbury, to fly in from London to put together a soft yet striking look with shimmery eyes and glossy pink lips.
The bride felt that it gave her ‘an angelic vibe’ and we could not agree more. Her hair was done in a fine bun and adorned with crystals by Nar from Dastan London. We wish the newlyweds a happy married life.
